Pointe Work
Students who are studying the Royal Academy of Dance Vocational Syllabus are invited, when ready, to invest in a pair of pointe shoes.
The Vocational Graded Examinations in Dance syllabus provides an in-depth study of ballet, develops technique, music and performance skills and introduces pointe work for female candidates.
When students are ready to begin studying pointe work, they and their parents will be informed in writing by the school that they can go and invest in the first pair of pointe shoes.
This is a really exciting time for a young dancer, a day that they would have dreamt of and aspired to since they were a little girl.
Students need to be mature and strong enough before studying pointe work. Often, depending on the student pointe work may not be suitable or advised.
If you have any concerns or questions about pointe work and whether your child is ready please contact the school. Here is a link to an advice sheet about getting pointe shoes for the first time.
The Stephanie Boast School of Dance recommends that students visit The Shoe Zoo in Torquay to be professionally fitted. Please follow the link to their website and make an appointment.
